Mundelein has often been rated as one of the best places to live in Illinois. It has so much to offer for families looking to put down new roots. This includes highly regarded public schools, diversity, ample job availability, great housing values and homey, suburban feel. All of this make for an amazing quality of life.

Like any town, there are different parts to it, each with their own unique charm. Mundelein has plenty of neighborhoods to choose from that make for just the right place to raise a family. Having worked in and around Mundelein for years, we know the town unlike any other. Below we share our 3 top family suburbs.

Loch Lomond

Inspired by the Irish landmark, this gem of a neighborhood can easily be mistaken for a resort or holiday destination. Its origins stem from the massive man-made lake at the heart of the area. Over the years, development has thrived on the land surrounding the lake, and today Loch Lomond one of the most sought-after private neighborhoods in Mundelein.

With a total of 600 homes surrounded by lush vegetation and the tranquility of the lake, it’s the perfect place to call home – a place of serenity away from the hustle and bustle of everyday work life. You can trust that the kids will love it here too, with a wealth of ways to keep them entertained within the neighborhood. This includes swimming, fishing, boating, and simply enjoying the great outdoors thanks to the wide open spaces.

The Woodlands

This leafy Mundelein suburb features spacious family homes that have been constructed not too long ago. The area is well-established as one that caters best to families, with most homes offering up to 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

Parents with young kids particularly love the fact that they are in such close proximity to parks and playgrounds. Even for those without kids, fresh air and getting active is always a good idea! Schooling in the area isn’t a problem either, and the ones serving The Woodlands are consistently top-rated. What’s not to love about The Woodlands?

Woodhaven

Not to be mistaken with our previous pick, Woodhaven is a beautiful town home community built in the early 1990s. It offers a range of housing options, from single family homes to condos and town homes. Its green, tree-lined streets and reasonable home values make it a very attractive neighborhood for both young professionals and growing families.

There is no shortage of parks and playgrounds surrounding Woodhaven, but you wouldn’t miss that given the lush generally lush surroundings. Parents can also rest assured that the kids’ education will be taken care of thanks to there being options from elementary through to high school level.
