Cedar: The Roofing Material That Exceeds All Others

Cedar roofing is a timeless material that has been used for generations to protect homes from the elements. Its durability, beauty, and resiliency have made it a popular choice for many homeowners. Cedar roofing is naturally resistant to rot, decay, and pests, making it ideal for harsh climates. It also has the ability to withstand extreme temperatures, from hot summer days to cold winter nights. Thanks to its aesthetic appeal, cedar roofing can also dramatically improve the look of a home. Many homeowners are drawn to its classic and rustic charm, making it an excellent choice for a variety of homes. Cedar roofing is an investment that is sure to last for many years to come.

Green Sustainability for a Better Future

Cedar roofs are an excellent choice for homeowners looking for an environmentally friendly and sustainable roofing material. Cedar roofs are made from an abundantly renewable resource and are 100% biodegradable, meaning that once their useful life is up, they can be recycled, repurposed, or disposed of in an eco-friendly manner.

Citrix Roofing recognizes the importance of environmental concerns and is committed to providing sustainable solutions. We offer cedar roofing as a way to create a green building solution that is energy-efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly. Cedar is one of the most durable and long-lasting materials available and its natural resistance to rot and insects makes it the perfect choice for a sustainable roof. We are proud to offer cedar roofing as a way for homeowners to build an environmentally-friendly roof that will last for years to come.

Strength You Can Trust

In addition to being environmentally friendly, cedar roofs are also durable and reliable. They are resistant to rot and insect infestation, meaning they will hold up to the elements and remain functional for many years. Cedar roofs also require very little maintenance, as they don’t need to be painted, oiled, or stained to stay in good condition.

Unlike heavier materials that boast strength and durability, cedar is a lightweight option that can enhance the structural integrity of your property instead of compromising it. As one of the most well-researched roofing materials on the market you can count on your cedar roof to offer protection from:

  • High Winds: Cedar shakes have been proven to withstand winds in excess of 130 mph without experiencing uplifting of roofing materials. For the record, the highest wind gusts ever recorded in The Windy City were only 87 mph – which means a cedar roof is more than strong enough to withstand the local climate.
  • Hail Resistance: Lake County consumers are no stranger to hail storms, so it’s important to note that cedar is highly impact resistant. Both cedar shakes and shingles placed at the top of the testing scale in the Underwriters Laboratories Test Standard for Impact Resistance of Prepared Roof Covering Materials which tests the impact resistance of roofing materials by dropping steel balls of various sizes on them from a variety of heights.
  • Fire Resistance: While many people believe that cedar roofs are susceptible to fire damage, pressure treated fire retardant cedar shakes and shingles are actually very resistant to fire damage and can keep your home safe in the event of a fire.

Nature’s Insulator

Cedar shakes have long been a popular choice amongst property owners looking for an aesthetically pleasing roofing option while also reducing their energy costs. Cedar shakes are an extremely effective natural insulator, with the unique cellular structure of the cedar providing superior insulation against cold and warm air. Not only that, but cedar shakes are naturally breathable, allowing heat to escape in the summer, thus reducing the cost of cooling the home. Cedar shakes also have the added benefit of providing protection from the sun’s UV rays, helping to keep the energy costs associated with cooling a home down even further. Furthermore, cedar shakes have a naturally long lifespan, meaning that once installed, you can rest assured knowing that your energy bills will be kept low for many years to come.

Cedar Roofs: A Sustainable Investment to Last a Lifetime

Cedar roofs are a smart and sustainable investment for your home, lasting up to four times longer than other common roofing materials. Cedar is also renewable, with a production cycle that is much shorter than other materials, and the natural oils in the wood provide excellent protection from the elements. Cedar roofs are low maintenance and require little upkeep, making them an excellent choice for eco-conscious homeowners who want to ensure their investments last a lifetime.

We are extremely happy with the work, product quality, and installation of our new roof, gutters, and fascia that we received from Cittrix. Our only disappointment was with the sales person Eric Bergland. He was rude, unprofessional and … More breached contract privacy. We recommend Cittrix for roofing work, however, stay away from Eric Bergland. Please request to deal with the owner Dan.

Top-notch service! They quoted my home siding wash about 6 months ago, then last month they asked me about time that was convenient to me, then they gave me an arrival time, and they did an excellent job. Very friendly and hardworking service … More crew explained everything and showed me what and how they do. Then the business followed up about quality and my satisfaction. Highly recommend!
    Update (September 2022):
This time I hired them for my garage roof repair, and they did a great job the SAME DAY AND FOR LOWEST PRICE THAT ALL OTHERS. Super service!

Great experience. We moved to Libertyville from the east coast and needed a roof inspection and quote from afar. Dan came over right away (that afternoon I believe) and quickly provided an inspection with photos + a quote. I quoted Cittrix … More out against two other companies - they were a tiny bit higher than one, but that company didn't bother to come out and inspect the roof and wasn't very responsive. Another company offered a higher quote but didn't actually see or inspect the roof. The installation started within a week or so of my signing the contract, and it was completed on time and to my satisfaction. Three skylights were also replaced and everything looks great. Highly recommend.Services: Attic venting, Roof installation, Skylight installation, Roof inspection, Skylight repair
