Every person is different. Everyone has their own unique style preferences, design aesthetics, and list of priorities for their homes. Most often, homeowners are concerned with the interiors of their homes. This makes sense because it’s where you spend most of your time, so logic would dictate that you would want the interior of your home to be as comfortable as possible.
However, you’d be surprised to know that the roof of your home plays a significant role in the comfortability of your home. It regulates your home’s temperatures, protects you from outside elements, and prevents natural disasters from playing out in your home.
2021 Roof Purchasing Study
If you’re a new homeowner and considering installing a rooftop on your home, but you’re not entirely sure what factors you need to look out for, the “2021 Roof Purchasing Study” might give you some clarification into this matter.
The “2021 Roof Purchasing Study” is a nationwide survey conducted by Signet Reseach Inc, providing insight into the factors that inform homeowners buying decisions.
When it comes to purchasing roofing materials and installing a roofing system, homeowners’ number one priority is durability. Once their durability needs are met, the second and third factors influencing their buying decisions are longevity and weather resistance.
Since most rooftops last between 30 to 50 years, most homeowners find themselves having to replace their roofing systems due to severe weather damage. Coming in second for reasons homeowners replace their roofing is the age of their roofing systems. The older rooftops get, the less durable they become, and their weather resistance dwindles.
If you live in an area that experiences frequent severe weather conditions, it’s essential to regularly inspect your roof and make sure it’s able to withstand the next storm that comes along.
Value Over Money
When it comes to how much homeowners are willing to pay for their roofing, the study found that while price points are significant points of consideration, people were willing to invest a bit of money to get a highly durable rooftop that will last them decades. Because of the relatively long lifespan of roofing systems, homeowners don’t mind investing large sums of money once or twice in their lives for a high-functioning roof.
The study also found that homeowners place quite a bit of trust in their roofing companies when picking out roofing materials. 61% of homeowners are in the market for high-quality roofing materials, while 57% of them were reliant on their roofers for material recommendations.
When comparing this study’s results to the 2011 Color Study, the comparison shows that over the span of 10 years, there’s been a significant increase in homeowners valuing the importance of curb appeal and viewing their home’s exterior as a reflection of their personalities.
Throughout the years, however, the roofing color preference has remained consistent. Black remains the top roof color choice, followed by grey and brown.
